Instill a Love of Reading in Your Child at Meetinghouse With These Tips

November 13, 2014

Instilling a love of reading in your child starts at home. Sure, the child will eventually go to school and learn how to read, but you can start that process at Meetinghouse. To encourage your children to read, follow these tips:

  1. Make storytime important. Reading to your child at a young age is important, and you can never start too early. Instead of just reading to your child before bed, bring a book with you wherever you go and the child will likely want to interact with the books.
  2. Always read together. Regardless of how old your child is, continue to read together. Both of you can enjoy the quality time and the bond that you formed thanks to books.
  3. Visit the library. Make the trips to the library fun so that your child wants to go. Let your little one choose books and read them with you. Also, look into story time and book clubs that might be held at your library.
