Free outdoor concerts have long been a part of life in Delaware County. Glen Providence Park hosted its first summer concert more than 80 years ago in 1937. Back then, the Delaware County WPA Orchestra entertained the crowd with a mix of classical and "semi-classical" songs. A lot has changed in the years since, but the 2018 Arts in the Park concert series ensures that this tradition lives on.
The concerts are well worth the drive to Glen Providence Park (about 20 miles) for some fresh-air entertainment. Come to the park on Saturday, July 28th to enjoy the sounds of Mutlu, a local singer-songwriter who specializes in soul music. Then on August 25th, check out the Delco Symphony Brass Quintet. The band Sweetbriar Rose closes out the season on September 8th with their signature mix of Americana, folk, and gypsy jazz. Bring along a blanket or lawn chairs and some snacks to enjoy during the concerts.
