While the outside world moves at a breakneck pace, things slow down considerably inside Lovering Studio. The yoga studio specializes in Yin yoga, the counterpart to classic Hatha. And on Sunday, November 12th, it's hosting a special two-hour Yin Yoga session from 4 to 6 p.m.
In stark contrast to Hatha yoga, which focuses on fluid movements, Yin yoga is all about holding poses. Performed seated, on your stomach, or on your back, these poses are designed to calm practitioners from the inside out. You transition very slowly from one to the next, focusing more on the static postures than the movement in between. A blend of music and poetry, meditation, and more enhances the calming experience. Register in advance, and come to the studio around 3:45 p.m. with a mat and two large beach towels for practice.
