You might have visited the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Barnes Collection, but have you ever checked out the highly regarded art museum not far from Meethinghouse? The Brandywine River Museum of Art showcases the works of the Wyeth family — N.C., Andrew, and Jamie Wyeth. The collection highlights the landscape works of the Brandywine Valley as well as portraits and still life paintings. Visiting the museum is like taking a master class in Wyeth family art, according to fans.
Currently on display is “Natural Selections: Andrew Wyeth Plant Studies,” which showcases trees, leaves, branches, flowers, and landscapes of Chadds Ford and Cushing, ME, where he spent his summers. This exhibition is showing until Feb. 7. The other exhibition is “Imagine Brandywine,” on display through Feb. 28, which shines a spotlight on the landscape paintings of fifth grade students from Avon Grove Intermediate School.
