When the Brandywine Zoo opened in 1928, it consisted of 11 elks, five monkeys, two black bears, and a handful of other donated animals. Now 90 years later, the 12-acre zoo plays host to a much wider variety of residents. You'll recognize some of them, but might not be familiar with species that hail from South America, Asia, and Africa.
Come to the zoo to meet the Red Panda and the North American River Otter. Watch while bald eagles soar around their enclosures. Listen to the buzz of the Italian honey bee as it flits from one flower to the next. The Brandywine Zoo houses all of these critters and many more, so it's a great place to spend a sunny summertime afternoon. Admission is only $7 for adults and $5 for kids, making a trip to the zoo an affordable outing for the entire family.
