Last year, Delaware County started a new Thanksgiving day tradition, the Delco Turkey Trot 5k. In its first year, the Delco Turkey Trot attracted more than 300 runners to burn some calories before their Thanksgiving feast. This year, its organizers are hoping that 500-plus participants will show up to run on Thanksgiving morning.
After all, the Delco Turkey Trot 5k contributes to a good cause. It helps to raise funds for the Nether Providence Elementary School PTO so they can continue to better the lives of students and parents. Fittingly, the race actually begins at the Nether Providence Elementary School at 9 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning. Register online ($30) and meet your fellow runners for an invigorating jog (or walk) around town before you tuck into your feast of turkey and mashed potatoes.
