It’s a tradition that every spring, homes around the Brandywine Valley open their doors, so the public can explore their flourishing gardens. Fittingly dubbed Wilmington Garden Day, this annual event dates back more than 70 years, when a group of local women decided to highlight the beauty of Mother Nature in an effort to lift spirits after the close of World War II.
Although this year’s lineup of gardens has yet to be announced, you can expect to see a wide variety of flowers, greenery, and unique garden accents. You can take your own self-guided tour of the included gardens anytime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 4th. Purchase your tickets online in advance ($35) or grab them on Garden Day at Janssen’s Market ($40). That ticket grants you unprecedented access to the most beautiful natural spaces in your community.
