Du Pont is a household name throughout Delaware and beyond thanks to the family’s many contributions to the community. Every winter, one of the former homes of the du Ponts opens its doors to the public with a special holiday display called Yuletide at Winterthur. The festive exhibit unfolds at Henry Francis du Pont’s mansion, Winterthur, now through January 6th.
Yuletide at Winterthur takes guests onto a journey into holiday’s past, room by room. Each room depicts the holiday traditions of local people starting as early as the 1800s, including those personal to the du Pont clan. The display includes a collection of glitzy holiday trees, one embellished with glass ornaments and another decked out with more than 60 types of dried flowers. You’ll also see an 18-room dollhouse (or rather, doll mansion), antique renderings of Santa, and more. Book your timed tickets ($16) in advance to see Yuletide at Winterthur.
