Did you know that the Mushroom Capital of the World is right in your backyard? It’s Kennett Square, home to multiple farms that are responsible for half of the country’s mushroom crop. So it makes sense that this spot would play host to a celebration of the mushroom! The Kennett Square Mushroom Festival is coming up on September 7th and 8th, claiming a portion of South Union Street.
The two-day festival tends to attract a crowd of more than 100,000 people, and for good reason. It’s much more than just a two-day mushroom-eating contest (although you can obviously expect to find tons of mushroom dishes). On Friday night, the bash kicks off with a community parade and an evening of live music, carnival rides, and games. Then on Saturday and Sunday, the full festival unfolds with more than 200 vendors from across the country, selling their arts and crafts, as well as cook-offs and plenty of food. Admission is $3.
